The Spanish were troops were drawn up on a steep ridge in the Besos Valley. St-Cyr ordered his troops to attack in column but his subordinate General Pino decided to attack in line and was repulsed. St-Cyr took over and formed the Spanish in column and bulldozed his way through the Spanish. The Spanish rout was completed by the Imperial cavalry. The Spanish lost over 2,500 casualties and most of their cannon while French losses were nearly 600.
